In most cases, when the oven door will not open, it is because it is still locked. In some models, there is a manual lock that can be disengaged, but if you have an automatic lock, it can be a frustrating problem that may not have a clear answer.

When your oven is locked, this is a safety feature that is done during the self-cleaning cycle. As the oven gets so hot inside to burn away excess food and greases, it is a hazard. To prevent injury or other issues, the oven will lock the door until the cycle is complete. In most cases where the oven door is still locked, it is because the self-clean cycle was stopped prematurely, such as when you hit it accidentally or just wanted it to stop so you could actually use your oven.

What you can do instead of running the self-clean cycle to completion is to actually unplug your oven for a bit. This essentially resets the appliance and may force the door lock to disengage. Freezers are usually extremely reliable. This is true for combination refrigerator-freezers as well as for stand-alone units. They perform their job well with little maintenance and can last 12 to as long as 20 years. However, no machine lasts forever. From time to time, you may notice signs that your freezer needs repair. 1. Your food is spoiling

Just like fresh food, frozen food has a shelf life, which typically ranges from about two months for cured or processed meat to a year or more for fruits and vegetables. If your frozen food is not lasting that long, your freezer may need repairing. This is especially true if your food is spoiling after only a few days. Although other possibilities exist, the premature spoilage of food could be a symptom of a malfunctioning thermostat or dirty condenser coils. When it comes to a refrigerator repair, a refrigerator light going out is about as best you could hope for. It is not a complex fix compared to the other problems that could manifest. However, while the light bulb might go out and need to be replaced if you change out the bulb and find out that the light still is not working, there is a lot more that could be the cause.

This only applies to traditional light bulbs and not LED, which can vary by model.

If you replaced the light bulb in the refrigerator and the light is still not coming on, there are two parts that you should check next – the light socket and the light switch. With the refrigerator unplugged, you should check the light socket first for continuity with a multimeter as well as do a visual check to make sure the terminals are not damaged. If the socket does turn out to be faulty, you can usually pop it out of the refrigerator via releasing the locking tab around its edge. The wire harness can then be removed and a new one can be installed.

If the light socket checks out, it may be the case of a faulty door switch that is responsible for turning the light on and off. You should first check to make sure it isn’t dirty and sticking in the off position. If it appears to be broken and needs replacement, you simply need to either pry it out or remove the control box and then remove the switch depending on your model of refrigerator. The wires can be released and a new one can be installed.

A dishwasher can take between one to four hours to complete a cycle. For a normally working machine, typically the time depends on the settings. If you use sanitization or heavy wash cycles, it will take vastly longer than a simple rinse cycle or light wash. However, if you are using a light cycle and your dishwasher still takes four hours or more to complete, there may be something wrong.

Water is Not Heating Properly

In order to clean your dishes efficiently, your dishwasher needs to use heated water between 120 and 150 degrees. For models that are connected to only cold water, some designs will not fill if the temperature is too low as dishes will not get clean using cold water only in a dishwasher. You can speed up the process by connecting the water to the hot water in your home. However, you may also need to consider that the heating element in your dishwasher is malfunctioning.

Low Water Pressure

To operate properly, the valve needs to operate between 20 and 120 PSI. The lower the water pressure, the longer it will take for the dishwasher to fill. Furthermore, if your water pressure is very low, you may find that the water supply valve does not close all the way which can cause overfilling or water when your dishwasher is not in use.

Turbidity Sensor

The turbidity sensor senses for dirt and debris in the wash cycle. When it runs clear, then wash cycle will advance. However, if a turbidity sensor has gone faulty or is getting false readings, it can extend the cycle indefinitely.

Check That The Valves are Open

If you have shut off the water to the washer to do repairs or even install a new washer, then the water valves may not be fully open. If that is the case, your washer will not be able to get enough water quickly. Makes sure the valves can turn no further into the “ON” position. You will also want to consider the possibility that your water pressure is too low as well.

Check The Water Inlet Filter

Water that is taken in through the hoses is filtered before it gets to your washer. In the drain hoses, by the attachment to the water inlet valves, there are filters. Remove the hoses and check these filters as they can become clogged. This is distinctly more of a possibility if you use hard water in your home.

Check the Hoses

If the hoses connected to your washer are all twisted up or have even slight kinks, it can affect water flow. Remove these hoses and either try to unkink them or replace them. For hoses that were twisted for so long, you may not be able to get them back into workable shape.

Cleaning your oven is a necessary chore, but it doesn’t have to be a painful one. Here’s a quick and easy guide to help you clean your oven without hassle!

What Should You Use to Clean Your Oven?

You can buy a traditional spray oven cleaner, or for a more natural option, you can use baking soda and vinegar! Just mix a 1/2 cup of baking soda with about 3 tablespoons of water to make a paste and have some vinegar in a spray bottle on hand to create foam when needed.

You’ll want paper towels or old newspapers, and damp cloth rags. If you’re using a chemical cleaner, you’ll need rubber cleaning gloves, safety glasses, and a large plastic garbage bag. You may also need a microfiber sponge to scrape off excess buildup.

How to Clean Your Oven in 5 Simple Steps

1) Take everything out of your oven

First, make sure your oven is turned off and cool. Take the racks out and place some paper towels or newspaper on the floor under the oven.

2) Clean the inside of your oven

Put on safety glasses and gloves if you’re using a chemical cleaner. Then, spread your oven cleaner of choice all over the inside. Don’t cover your oven’s heat source, whether it’s electric or gas. Let the oven cleaner sit 20 to 30 minutes for store-bought oven cleaner or 10 to 12 hours for baking soda.

3) Clean the oven racks

While the oven cleaner sits, it’s time to clean the racks!

For a conventional oven cleaner, take the racks outside, spray them, and let them sit in a large garbage bag for as long as the label says.

For baking soda paste, place the racks in your sink. Spread the paste and add vinegar. Wait for the mixture to finishing foaming, then fill the sink with water and let the racks sit for 10 to 12 hours.

4) Wipe down your oven

Once your oven cleaner is done sitting, wipe down the oven with a damp cloth. If you have a lot of buildup, use a microfiber sponge or other abrasive tool to scrape out the grime. For tough baking soda spots, apply vinegar and wipe away the foam.

5) Rinse and replace the racks

Rinse out the racks and scrub them with a cloth rag or abrasive sponge. Replace them in the oven.
